The Okrika local government council is aimed at engaging 200 youths from the various  communities of the area on sanitation activities to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment. 
The Chairman, Hon Achese Igwe,  stated this at a meeting with Chairmen of Community Development Committees (CDC), said those that will be engaged will be paid monthly stipends to encourage optimum performance. 

He noted that they are to ensure the cleaning of gutters and drainages, sweeping of roads, as well as planting of trees to ensure beautification of major roads and Communities.
The council boss also disclosed that a sanitation committee to work towards ameliorating the impact of impending flooding in the area would be inaugurated. 

Hon. Igwe stressed that his administration will ensure regular power supply in the area through the payment of electricity bills. According to him, the council pays N17m monthly as electricity bills, adding that the payment covers both indigenes and non indigenes living in Okrika.
He, however, said those using their premises to do business will take care of their light bills as far as their commercial activities are concerned. According to the Chairman, such businesses are hotels, welding and fabrication, and other heavy duty associated businesses. 
The council boss expressed uptimism to ensure electricity supply to Okujagu Ama within his 100 days in office, while efforts will be made to provide desks, books, and educational support to vulnerable students.
Hon. Igwe disclosed that a skill acquisition center will be established in the area to impact necessary skills to the teeming youths, while the council will liase with companies working in the area to engage the youths both in temporary and permanent employment opportunities.
The chairman stressed that his administration would partner with the CDCs to ensure peace and stability in Okrika. He also called on them to support him and the state government to promote peace in the state. Noting that the governor of the state, Sir. Siminalayi Fubara is committed to the timely development of the Okrika Local Government Area.
He warned against any effort aimed at sabotaging government programmes in Okrika, stressing that vandalization of public property should never be allowed as those who indulge in such acts will be seen as  enemies of the people. And will not be tolerated.

Reacting, some of the CDC Chairmen, including Siki Oba Sokobe, Hon Solomon Dima Solomon, and Aaron Iyagba Adetumario, described the meeting as very timely and aimed at inclusivity
They particularly commended the chairman for touching on the issue of cleaning of drainages and pledged their support to enable him to succeed in his stewardship.
