An idle mind it is said is the devil's workshop, where all garbages are settled. When the finger is put to use, the idleness of the heart is defeated.
In a bid to give back to society, the councilors representing Ward 2, and 12 in the Okrika Legislative Assembly packaged a skills acquisition programme to their constituents. The programme which saw the students through different skills was rounded up with a starter pack from the member representing Okrika State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Amaopuerembo, (Hon.) Linda Somiari.
In her speech, Hon. Linda commended the councillors for the gesture, and urged their counterparts to follow the trend. The Amaopuerembo of Ogoloma, advised the graduands to see a window of opportunity in the programme, adding that, no society succeeds not appreciating the works of nature. She admonished them to be worthy ambassadors of their families and communities by putting the acquired skills to work.
The Assembly member who also is the Candidate of the People's Democratic Party, for the House of Assembly in Okrika Constituency encouraged the beneficiaries to continue in a retraining process, stressing that, any knowledge acquired not put to use fades at the passage of time.
The organisers of the event, Councillors Royal Ateke and Ibinabo Williams thanked the participants and their senior colleague for finding time to be part of their success stories.
Speaking to OfirimaWatch, some of the beneficiaries thanked the organisers and Hon. Linda for finding them worthy of the opportunity to be self equipped to face the challenges of life, while promising to make judicious use of the packages.
